The Montenegerin people say that Rijeka Crnojevica was made from the tears shed by Ivan Crnojevic because of the suffering of his people.
Situated in a deep bend in the river of the same name the village is a historical relic of times gone by. It was built on the outskirts of the ancient town of Obod to which Ivan Crnojevic moved when the Turks conquered Zabljak. King Nikola built his summer residence there.
Nowadays the village is a relaxing place to spend time on the river, explore the local hiking trails or visit the Obod cave and travelling a few kms further from the village see the spectacular serpentine bend in the river as it journeys on its way to Lake Skadar.
The ancient stone bridge in the centre of the village is the perfect place to relax and watch the world go by with coffee or a glass of local wine from the surrounding wine growing regions.
